5 of our fav Aussie artists before they made it big

When Aussie darlings Tame Impala got announced as headliners for some of the world’s biggest festivals like Coachella and Lollapalooza, it was easy to forget that they started out young and scrappy, playing to tiny crowds at local festivals.

So we’ve done some digging to find footage of our fav Aussie acts from waaaay before they were big. Have a geez.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard

Ah King Gizz. We don’t need to tell you how much of a cult following they’ve got but in case you needed proof – here’s the shitposting Youtube channel dedicated to them with over 15k subscribers. But before they pulled off 5 albums in 2017, they played at CherryFest in 2012.

Ocean Alley

They topped the Hottest 100 of 2018 so it’s pretty safe to say these boys are big. Like sell-out a national tour big. While the Ocean Alley boys already had a pretty big following pre Chiaroscuro’s release last year, in 2012 they were playing to much, much smaller crowds. Have a look.

Tash Sultana

A lot of judgement coming your way if you’re not already familiar with Tash Sultana’s huge tune Jungle. So here’s a vid from 2015 when she was busking in Melbourne, playing Jungle and selling CDs for $10.

Tame Impala

This wouldn’t be complete without this video of baby Tame Impala back in 2008, playing to a verrrry chilled out crowd of about 40 people at Wave Rock.

We can’t even imagine how smug you’d feel if you were one of the lucky people in those crowds. Which is exactly why at GiggedIn, we’re making it easier and more affordable to discover new emerging artists because you never know who’s going to be the next big thing.

And as a bonus, here’s a pic of Fisher (the man behind ‘Losing It’ which came out at #2 in this year’s Hottest 100) and his giant dick surfboard from his surfing days.
